Dance With a Stranger celebrating their 40th anniversary
In 2024, it will be 40 years since Dance With A Stranger was formed, and 38 years since they debuted at Moldejazz (Naustet Vårt). In 2006, they took their first substitute job ever when they stepped in as substitutes for Di Derre (Teltet på Gørvellplassen) on very short notice!
The gentlemen Øivind Elgenes (Elg), Frode Alnæs, and Bjørn Jenssen come with four musicians in a fresh and revitalized version. Expect hits like "Everyone Needs a Friend", "The Invisible Man", "Dance With A Stranger," and several of the lesser-known songs in a "new" packaging. The band's real breakthrough came in 1988, where the debut album sold more than 125 000 copies and was rewarded with a Spellemannspris (Norwegian Grammy). Now, they are once again ready to delight their audience with a still fresh, fun, and high-quality musical show!
Dance With A Stranger draws inspiration from blues and jazz, soul, rock, and pop, and the response from both press and audience shows that they are simply in a class of their own.
The songs – the atmosphere – the energy – the joy: what a party it will be!
In the video below, we take you back to 1989, and the Spellemann awards.
Concerts in our main program typically last between 60 to 90 minutes.
In Alexandraparken, there is an age limit of 18 years from 7:00 PM.

Yeisy Rojas

From Havana to Molde - With a cosmopolitan mix of salsa, jazz, funk, and more, charismatic Yeisy Rojas will create a warm and delightful atmosphere in Alexandraparken!
After working as a violinist in the National Ballet and Opera in Havana, Rojas moved to Norway in 2016 and is establishing herself as a beloved artist in festivals and clubs. What characterizes Rojas is her stage presence, virtuoso violin playing blending Cuban roots and academic training, and a directly engaging vocal style. Like many Cubans, she loves to dance, and dancing is as natural a part of her stage performance as the music itself. Presence is a trademark of Yeisy Rojas.
Last year, her single "Mama Inez" was selected by Billboard Magazine as one of the month's newcomer songs. A Norwegian reviewer describes it as a colorful salsa performance of high quality, a song that ignites dance floors from Café Sør in Oslo to drink-driven parties in Havana. This is a strong artist and a band on the rise, and experiencing them in Alexandraparken is something to look forward to.
Yeisy Rojas - Violin and vocals, Torbjørn Kvamme - piano, Gaston Joya - bass, Jose Carlos Sanchez - Drums
Nora Mamdu
