Marthe Lea Band
Marthe Lea Band is a joy-inducing marvel in jazz and folk music
Tenor saxophonist Marthe Lea is on the verge of conquering large parts of the jazz world with a band that combines spiritual jazz, folk music from multiple continents, and free forms in an uplifting and entirely unique musical mix. The band leader combines the saxophone with a range of other instruments.
Her latest album, "Herlighetens vei" (The Path of Glory), has garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews with a sky full of stars. The same applies to concerts both domestically and internationally. This is truly a band filled with fantastic musicians with distinct personal expressions. The sonic palette is incredibly varied, presenting itself as both wild and beautiful. Reviewers have used expressions like hummable melodies, swaying grooves, happiness-inducing nature psychedelia, and music that radiates. This is joyful jazz from our own time.
If you have even the slightest interest in jazz, folk music, or other music outside of mainstream pop, you will have a great time encountering these five musicians on the intimate Storyville stage this Friday afternoon during Moldejazz.
